SUPER SIZE ME Simple premise here boys and girls: Eat nothing but McDonald's for a month, trying everything on the menu at least once, and you must super-size your order if asked. Sounds tough? Sounds disgusting? Well, you’re right on both account. That’s exactly what Morgan Spurlock did in this stomach turning documentary. Traveling from state to state, small city by even smaller city, he visited countless McDonald’s and ordered every item at least once, Super Sizing it on the way to damaged liver. I was actually very surprised with this film. I figured it might be some guy filming how he ate fast food for 30 days and be done with it, on the contrary. This film was well put together, smartly edited and contained a host of physicians, nutritionists, and professors. All offering their own spin on fast food, our culture and something we all know to be true: not to eat fast food! It was recommended to Mr. Spurlock that he cease this “experiment” numerous times from all of his three doctors. After gaining 15 pounds in the span of less than 2 weeks, cholesterol level jumping over 100 points and realizing his liver was in danger of being permanently damaged, he continued. His body became lethargic, headaches became consistent and even his girlfriend went on tape saying that his sexual prowess has gone down hill. I left his movie feeling very healthy about myself. True, it did make me want to go and indulge on some fast food, but that craving soon diminished after Morgan vomited in the parking lot of a McDonalds. |
