Hollywood is bored! Simply put: Hollywood is bored. Better yet, Hollywood is boring. Is it just me, or is Hollywood churning out movies which seem to be slapped together by two freshman film majors, while eating stale cheese-its, relying on friends to write the script, all the while fighting with their mother to stop interrupting them while on the phone with their cinematographer, who, by-the-way, just got punished by his own parents? "Hollywood", they who represent the creative minds who produce movies, have lost touch, lost their creative juices and most importantly, lost insight. Gone are the days that yearn us to travel to the movies, that made us discuss every aspect of them until nothing was left unturned. I come from the generation that had to shell out a mere $4.50 for a movie, not the outrageous rate of over $10.00+ these days. Ya wanna lower the price of movie tickets, here's two ideas: 1. Stop paying actors like Kevin Costner a trillion dollars for movies about people living on the water and 2. Stop building $100 million movie complexes that offer us foot-rests and silk lined cup holders! Try this: make movies that mean something. Create a movie, mold the characters, hone the plot. Stop flushing the toilet and whatever doesn't go down, that's your script! Movies have become simple re-makes of TV shows and movies from the 80's. Josie and The Pussy cats, Scooby-Doo? What next, an 2 hour movie of Welcome Back Kotter? Now, although I love that show, it would work just as well as Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) did as a movie--badly. You cannot take, with some exception, a 1/2 hour sitcom, and stretch it into a 2 hour movie. It does not work. What I also have trouble with are movies that rely, completely, on special effects. Just because you have the budget to hire Industrial Light & Magic, does not a good move make. Hopefully movie-goers, such as yourself, can see past all of the bells and whistles that some directors hope, even pray, will save their movie. They use these SFX to lure you away from what you already knew, that their movie sucks! With suck, and will continue to suck. Come on people, speak up!
