Sexy Beast

Released in 2001, Sexy Beast was a highly praised independent film about a retiring thief strong-armed into one last heist. Ben Kingsley plays the role of an over bearing, vulgar, seething gangster. His character is a monster, brutal and depicts anyone you wish to harm, which is a far cry from his humble and more sensitive roles as Gandhi and opposite Liam Neeson in Schindler's List.

Ben unleashes his dark side as he morphs into a violent, deeply disturbed boss recruited to assemble a group of thieves for a seemingly impossible heist of a heavily guarded bank. The heist takes a back seat to the relationship between Ben's character, Don, and the main person he is trying to persuade into joining the group. When the past and present reach a boiling point, Don finds himself on the receiving end of a 22 caliber bullet.

Set in Spain, Sexy Beast is not what you’d call a blockbuster hit, however. If you are a fan of smartly written story lines, actors that actually act and a character driven plot, I suggest you take a look at Sexy Beast.
