One Hour Photo Robin Williams continues the exploration into his darker side as a lonely One Hour Photo technician who lives vicariously through the photos of his customers. His dedication to his job is what gets him up in the morning and is systematically his final demise. When the father of his favorite family betrays the wife and son, Sy Parrish (Robin Williams), becomes enraged and becomes the lone cowboy to show the father the error of his ways. One Hour Photo gives a bleak perspective into the life of the nameless photo technician we see everyday at the local "Quickie Mart". We think nothing of them, only that they are able to produce our precious photos in less than one hour (sometimes less). Sy Parrish thinks himself a member of the family to one specific customer, and takes it upon himself to protect the family when the father strays and cheats with a co-worker. From his stark white apartment, $3.00 car to a life behind the photo counter, you bare witness to the dark life Sy Parrish leads. This movie is for any William's fan and anyone that can appreciate his range, dedication and love for the craft of acting. I can safely say, that in todays shallow pool of acting talent, there is not another actor, male or female, that can match Williams' range. Jim Carey tried to be a 2 trick pony, but failed. This is not to say there is not talent in Hollywood, but no one of Robin William's rank. With ease he morphs from a wild comedic role to loving parent figure from a caring teacher to deranged photo tech. Robin Williams dives much deeper into his serious side than he previously showed in the movie Insomnia. This movie is creepy, dark and will give you a whole knew perspective, albeit distorted, on your One Hour Photo guy. |
