House of Sand and Fog

Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly deliver a powerful yet disturbing account of just how far two people will go to protect what they own. One gathering her strength to take back her house, the other, digging his fox hole, ready to defend his property in an unknown land.

Massoud Amir Behrani (Kingsley), once a member of the Shah of Iran's elite inner circle, uproots his family and moves to the United States. Seeking the great fortune once attained from their days in Iran, Kingsley purchases a house, owned by Connelly's family which was wrongfully placed on the market, attempting to make a profit. When the bureaucratic red tape becomes too great, Connelly takes matters into her own hands.

Once again, Kingsley absorbs his character, his traits and sense of being. You stop looking at him as an actor, but simply as Massoud. Balancing this fortunate paring, Connelly offers some of the best acting in her career to date. It's good to see her reaching with her movie choices and character development.
